About Round Rock Dragon Lacrosse
Round Rock Dragon Lacrosse is a sports program based out of Round Rock Independent School District's Round Rock High School, located in Round Rock, Texas. Our program participates in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) and is in the Central District Division. Our program has two components, a High School Division and a Youth Division. Our High School Division is comprised of students in grades 9th through 12th whereby our Youth Division is comprised of students in grades 1st through 8th. For the 2013 season, the Dragons will sport two squads at the High School level, a Dll Varsity and JV teams.
Requirements for membership include enrollment at Round Rock High School for our High School Division or living in the Round Rock High School attendance zone for the Youth division (will attend RRHS when you eventually attend HS). You are also required to pay yearly membership dues, participate in yearly fundraising, provide all required equipment, and follow predetermined guidelines set forth by our Board of Directors and the Coaching Staff. No experience is required to join, but players are highly encouraged to participate in camps, clinics and leagues prior to the start of our season.
Our program is viewed as a club sport and receives no monetary support from either the school or the school district. As a club sport in RRISD, we are required to follow Texas UIL "No Pass, No Play" Rules. Round Rock Dragon Lacrosse, Inc. is a non-profit 501c(3) corporation and derives its funding through player dues and contributions made by our generous sponsors. Since dues alone do not cover the clubs expenses, players will participate in various fundraising activities.
For season 2013, THSLL Division II in Central District will remain split into North and South sub-divisions (pending approval at the THSLL District meeting on September 8). Each sub-Division will compete during the season, and then will compete against both North and South teams for the district championship. Our Dll Varsity team will be required to play the following North teams: Cedar Ridge, Georgetown, Rouse, McNeil, and Vista Ridge. Additionally, Round Rock Varsity will play McCallum, St. Andrew's, and Dripping Springs from the South sub-district and the following out-of-district teams: Central Catholic (San Antonio), Smithson Valley (San Antonio), Lovejoy (Dallas), Parish Episcopal (Dallas), Plano East (Dallas), and Langham Creek (Houston).
Round Rock will field one JV this season. They will have a 16 game schedule facing both DI and DII JV teams from all four districts in the state.
Our THSLL season begins in January and will end with the THSLL Dll playoffs around the beginning of May. However, pre-season practices will be held beginning in late September and the team may participate in tournament play as early as November.
